What Does a Mobile Car Inspection Include?
A mobile pre-purchase car inspection is an independent check of a used car, done where the car is parked, before you hand over any money. InspectCar’s inspector comes to the seller’s home, the dealer’s yard or the auction across Brisbane, the Gold Coast and the Sunshine Coast. The $250 Standard inspection works through 150 points: engine and gearbox, brakes, steering and suspension, tyres, paintwork with depth readings, leaks and rust underneath, and the electrics, including a battery load check and a fault-code scan, plus a road test where possible. The $395 Premium inspection covers 250+ points for 4WDs, utes, EVs, hybrids and luxury cars and adds a market valuation.
Every inspection includes a PPSR certificate and a digital report with photos on the same day, and the inspector will talk you through it if you ask.
Visual Inspection
Exterior and interior condition, body panels and paint, with paint-depth readings for signs of accident repairs.
Mechanical Check
Engine bay, fluid levels and leaks, belts and hoses, and a scan for current and stored fault codes.
Road Test
5 to 7 km on Standard and longer on Premium, where the car can be driven: engine, gearbox, brakes and steering on the move.
Safety Assessment
Brakes, tyres, lights, and the underside for leaks and corrosion where it can be reached.
Detailed Report
A digital report with photos of the findings, delivered the same day, with a PPSR certificate.
A Call With the Inspector
Ask, and the inspector will call to go through the report. Premium adds a market valuation and negotiation tips.

In Queensland, a private seller isn’t bound by consumer guarantees, and you get no cooling-off period and no statutory warranty. That’s why the Office of Fair Trading tells private buyers to get an independent inspection before they pay.

Is a mobile pre-purchase car inspection worth it?
For most private sales, we think so: a private seller isn’t bound by consumer guarantees, so faults found after you pay are yours to fix. For a near-new car from a licensed dealer, it’s more of a judgement call. Here’s our full answer.
Can you inspect cars at dealerships and auctions?
Yes. We inspect cars sold by private sellers, licensed dealers and auction houses, wherever the car is parked. At an auction you usually can’t test drive before bidding, so the inspection covers everything except the road test.
What happens if the inspection finds serious problems?
They’re set out in the report with photos, so you can see them for yourself. You can then negotiate the price, ask the seller to fix them before you pay, or walk away. The decision stays with you.
Do I need to be there for the inspection?
No. The inspector meets the car at the seller’s location, and you get the report with photos the same day. If you’d like to talk it through, ask and the inspector will call you.
Does the inspection include a test drive?
Yes, where the car can be driven and the seller allows it: 5 to 7 km on Standard and longer on Premium. If a road test isn’t possible, the report says so.
