- Gold Coast Mobile Inspections
Pre-Purchase Car Inspection Gold Coast
Buying a used car on the Gold Coast? We check it where it’s parked, whether that’s a dealer’s lot, an auction or the seller’s driveway, from Hope Island down to Tweed Heads. Standard inspections cost $250, PPSR certificate included, and you get the report the same day.
What You Get From a Gold Coast Car Inspection
InspectCar’s Gold Coast inspections start at $250. The Standard inspection works through 150 points on the car where it’s parked: engine, transmission, brakes, steering and suspension, tyres, paintwork and panels, leaks and corrosion underneath, and the electrics, including a battery load check and a fault-code scan. Where the car can be driven, the inspector road tests it over 5 to 7 km. The same day, you receive a digital report with at least 30 photos, plus a PPSR certificate showing whether the car is recorded as written off, stolen or under finance.
Premium costs $395 and runs to 250+ points. It suits 4WDs, utes, electric and hybrid cars and European and luxury models, and adds full paint-depth mapping, an extended road test and a market valuation. We cover the Gold Coast from Helensvale and Hope Island down to Tweed Heads.

Coastal Wear
Salt, Sun and Sand: How the Coast Wears a Car
Cars that live near the beach age differently. Salty, humid air works its way into the underside, brake parts and suspension. Strong sun fades paint and dries out rubber. And a 4WD that has been on the sand can hold it in places a quick wash never reaches. None of this shows up in an ad photo.
Coastal Wear We Look For
- Rust under the car, on the subframe and around suspension mounts
- Corroded brake lines, callipers and fittings
- Perished rubber seals, bushes and hoses
- Sun-faded paint and a cracked dashboard
- Sand and salt build-up on 4WDs
Looking at a 4WD or ute that has seen the beach? Add the 4×4, ute or van check for $49, or choose Premium for a closer look at the drivetrain, transfer case and underbody.

Which Inspection Suits Your Car?
For most used cars, the $250 Standard inspection is enough. Premium ($395) makes sense for:
- Four-wheel drives and utes, especially ones used off-road or on the beach
- Electric and hybrid cars, with battery health and charging checks
- European and luxury cars, with their electronics and suspension
- Buyers who want full paint-depth mapping and a longer road test
- Anyone who wants a market valuation before making an offer
On Standard, you can add EV and hybrid checks ($60) or 4×4, ute and van checks ($49). Compare the packages.
Inside the Inspection
What Gets Checked on a Gold Coast Inspection
Every Standard inspection follows the same 150-point list. Here is how it breaks down. Premium covers the same ground in more depth.
Under the Bonnet
- Leaks, smoke and unusual engine noises
- Oil and coolant condition
- Belts, hoses and mounts
- Gearbox or transmission shifting
- CV joints and driveshafts
Underneath the Car
- Brake pads, discs and lines
- Shocks, struts and suspension bushes
- Steering components
- Leaks and corrosion, where accessible
- Exhaust and mounts
Body, Cabin and Electrics
- Paint-depth spot checks for repaired panels
- Panel gaps and signs of accident repairs
- Tyres: tread depth and uneven wear
- Battery load check and fault-code scan
- Air conditioning, lights, windows and locks
Road Test, When the Car Can Be Driven
5 to 7 km on Standard and longer on Premium, checking the engine, gearbox, brakes and steering on the move
Every finding is written up in your report, with photos. See how the report is laid out.

Know Your Rights
Private Sale, Dealer or Auction: What Protects You?
Queensland gives you different protection depending on who sells you the car. According to the Queensland Government’s used vehicle guide:
- Private sale: no cooling-off period, no statutory warranty, and the seller doesn't have to give you a PPSR certificate
- Licensed dealer: a statutory warranty of 3 months or 5,000 km on cars under 10 years old with under 160,000 km, and 1 month or 1,000 km on older or higher-kilometre cars
- Auction: you usually can't test drive before bidding, but you should be able to inspect the car
The guide calls a private sale a riskier way to buy, so that’s where an independent inspection and a PPSR certificate do the most work. Both come with every InspectCar inspection.

Across the Border
Buying a Car Registered in NSW?
Looking at a car just over the border in Tweed Heads? If you live in Queensland and buy a car registered in New South Wales, it needs Queensland registration. With the interstate plates still on, the Queensland Government gives you 14 days to register it, and you will need a Queensland safety certificate first.
Before you buy across the border:
- Have the car inspected before you pay: we go south to Tweed Heads
- Your PPSR certificate is national, so it covers NSW cars too
- Allow for a Queensland safety certificate and registration within 14 days
- Buying from further away? We inspect the car and send you the report
The safety certificate covers basic safety items only, so it won’t tell you how the engine or gearbox is going. The pre-purchase inspection does.

We inspect on both sides of the border
FAQ
Pre-Purchase Car Inspection Gold Coast FAQs
Can’t see your question? Try our FAQs page or how it works, or call 1800 372 001.
Do you inspect cars in Tweed Heads?
Yes. We cover the Gold Coast south to Tweed Heads. If you live in Queensland and buy a NSW-registered car, it needs a Queensland safety certificate and Queensland registration within 14 days.
Is a PPSR certificate included?
Yes, with both Standard ($250) and Premium ($395). It may confirm whether the car is recorded as written off, stolen or under finance.
Can you inspect a car at an auction?
Yes, during the auction house’s viewing times. You usually can’t test drive a car before bidding, so the inspection covers everything except the road test.
How long does an inspection take?
Plan on 60 to 120 minutes at the car. Our guide to inspection times explains what affects it.
When will I get the report?
On the day of the inspection. It comes as a digital report with photos, and you can ask the inspector to call you about it.
After the Inspection
What Happens Once the Report Arrives
The report lands the same day, with photos of anything the inspector found. Ask, and the inspector will call to go through it. Then it’s your decision:
- Buy it, knowing what it will need
- Use the findings to negotiate the price
- Ask the seller to fix problems before you pay
- Walk away and keep looking
On Premium, the market valuation range and negotiation tips help you decide what to offer.
