Vans and People Movers

Van Inspections
What a Van Pre-Purchase Inspection Checks
A van pre-purchase inspection starts with everything a car inspection covers, then looks harder at the parts a working van wears out. The Standard inspection ($250) runs through 150 points, from the engine and gearbox to the brakes, tyres, body and electrics, and includes a scan for fault codes, a look underneath for leaks and rust, and a road test of 5 to 7 km when the van can be driven. The 4×4, ute or van check adds a closer look at the drivetrain and the underbody for $49. Premium ($395) has that check built in, plus paint-depth mapping across every panel, live diagnostic data where the van supports it, a longer road test and a market valuation.
Both packages come with a PPSR certificate and a report with photos the same day, and we inspect vans at homes, businesses, dealers and auctions across Brisbane, the Gold Coast and the Sunshine Coast.
It suits buyers looking at:
- A delivery or trade van with plenty of kilometres
- A people mover for the family
- A campervan conversion, with or without gas
- A van from a fleet sale or an auction

The Van Checks
What We Look at on a Van
The parts that show how hard a van has worked, and what it’ll cost to run.
Sliding and rear doors: rollers, hinges, locks and seals
Load floor, walls and roof: dents, holes and water marks
Rear springs and shocks, and how the van sits when empty
Clutch, gearbox and drivetrain, including the rear diff on rear-drive vans
Seats, seatbelts and child seat anchor points in a people mover
Tyres, brakes and wheel bearings, which work harder under load
Signs of past accident repairs and rust, inside and out
Lights, central locking, the reversing camera and a fault-code scan
The report lists each finding with photos, so you can price the work. See how a report is laid out.
Campervans
Buying a Campervan Conversion
Turning a van into a camper changes it on paper as well as inside. Under Queensland’s vehicle modification rules, body modifications are complex modifications: they have to follow an approved code and be certified by an approved person. A change to the seating capacity or body type has to be reported to Transport and Main Roads within 14 days. If the van has a gas system, the seller has to give you a gas certificate less than 3 months old when the registration is transferred.
- The modification certificate and plate
- Registration details that match the seats and body
- The gas certificate, if there's a cooktop or heater on gas
- Receipts for the fit-out and any electrical work
We check the condition of the van and the fit-out we can see. The certificates come from an approved person and a licensed gas fitter.
Work Vans
Ex-Fleet and Courier Vans
Vans from fleets and courier work run long days with lots of stops, so the wear isn’t always where the kilometres suggest. Ask for the service records. The inspection looks closely at:
Clutch and brake wear from stop-start driving
Holes and wiring from shelving, racks and signwriting
Door and seat wear against the odometer reading
Leaks and wear underneath from heavy loads

Does the van check cover people movers?
Yes. The 4×4, ute or van check covers vans and people movers: the drivetrain and the condition of the underbody. Standard covers the rest of the 150 points.
Can you inspect a campervan conversion?
Yes. We inspect the van and the fit-out we can see. Ask the seller for the modification certificate and, if it has gas, the gas certificate.
Do you inspect vans at fleet sales and auctions?
Yes, during the viewing times the seller allows. You usually can’t test drive at an auction, so the inspector checks what can be checked on site.
Will you road test the van?
If the van is registered and safe to drive, yes. Standard includes a drive of 5 to 7 km, and Premium goes further.
Is a van inspection the same price as a car?
Yes. Standard is $250 and Premium $395, and the van check is $49 on Standard. Both include a PPSR certificate. See the packages.
When do I get the report?
The same day, as a digital report with photos.
